Parent Resources: Raising a Child with Alopecia

Alopecia is not only a life altering diagnosis for your child, but also yourself. Without a safe space to process your own emotions about this experience, it is possible that these emotions might start to bleed into your child’s lane. So what is the key to managing your own emotions about Alopecia while also supporting your child through this experience? Attuning to their journey while knowing your journey is separate from theirs.

For this reason, it is SO important that parents have resources to support their journey, which in turn will help your child. There is no “guide book” when your child is diagnosed and this is often scary and overwhelming. Due to this, I have dedicated my Substack to a hub of resources specifically to help parents navigate supporting themselves and their child through Alopecia. I will continue to build my substack with various resources related to supporting your child’s self-esteem and resilience, communication strategies, coping skills and much more. You can subscribe there and get resources sent to your inbox on a regular basis!
