Hair Loss Coaching: Overcoming the mental impacts of hair loss
1:1 Hair loss coaching is suited for those with hair loss or parents of children with hair loss who are looking for guidance.
Hair loss coaching is an inside-out approach. Rather than focusing on external solutions, we will uncover thought, feeling and behavior patterns that are leaving you feeling stuck. The goal being that you no longer feel held back by hair loss and can live your most expansive life, no matter how much hair you have. Along this journey, we may discover you want to try external solutions such as wigs or treatment OR maybe you already use these things, but no longer want to feel like you are hiding behind them. Through hair loss coaching, you will lean into your authentic self and make decisions for your own values, rather than feeling pressured by societal standards.
Some things you may consider 1:1 hair loss coaching for…
Overcoming social anxiety related to hair loss
Feel more comfortable wearing wigs or desiring to stop wearing wigs
Finding your unique version of acceptance and confidence

You are parent of a child with hair loss struggling to navigate your feelings

or any other roadblocks hair loss is causing in your life!

Coaching
Coaching services are meant to a proactive approach to getting support and guidance for achieving goals and learning new skills
The focus of coaching is on skills, techniques, strategies and education using action oriented and solution focused approaches for specific goals (in this case, for hair loss and related goals)
Coaching is a lower level of care than therapy (which means it is not suited for high risk concerns such as substance abuse, active eating disorders, psychosis, self harm, suicidal ideation or thoughts, intense behavioral struggles etc)
Coaching does not include diagnosis or assessments
My coaching services are available to anyone worldwide
Therapy
Therapy services are meant to assess, treat and diagnose mental illness
The focus of therapy is treating a variety mental health concerns (not always specific to one thing) and typically is longer term
Therapy is a higher level of care than coaching
Therapy typically includes a diagnosis, treatment planning and therapeutic treatment using a variety of evidenced based therapies and approaches
Therapy is only offered to clients who are in the state where clinician is licensed (for me, this means I can only work with clients who are in New York)

I am not a doctor, so I can not provide or prescribe any medications for hair growth. Hair growth is often unpredictable. I often work with clients who are embarking on a treatment journey with their doctor. In our space, we will focus on managing expectations with treatment, increasing emotional coping skills, helping you make an informed decision about whether treatment options are right for you and processing the emotions you may feel while taking treatment.

A lot of things! Depending on your goals, we may work on various things including…
Learning emotion regulation skills
Incremental exposures to help you go out bald for the first time, start dating, or other things that hair loss has held you back from
Experimentation with wigs, hats or other accessories
Mirror exposure techniques to support body neutrality and acceptance
Cognitive techniques to reduce constant hair loss thoughts
Communication strategies and scripts to help you discuss Alopecia with people in your life
Boundary support to implement boundaries with friends, family or others
and more!

Acceptance is a constant practice! When you no longer try to change things outside of your control and develop a non-judgmental self-talk, it will bring you closer to acceptance. This is one of many things I support my hair loss clients with.
